Fresno County Jail Roster Overview
The official local lookup is the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner's Office Inmate Info Center. The sheriff describes the online search as the public route for people in sheriff custody and says the record area can show housing location, Booking Number, Jail Identification Number or Person ID, charges, bail amount, and projected release date if known. The legacy search page inspected for this build is the clearest public form because it exposes the search fields and the detail-page fields without requiring a login.
The county roster is for Fresno County Sheriff custody, including the Main Jail, North Annex Jail, and West Annex Jail. It is not the right database for a person already committed to state prison, housed in federal Bureau of Prisons custody, or held only by immigration authorities. Roster refresh frequency and the public retention period for released people were not located in the inspected official source text, so use the current in-custody app, booking blotter, release list, phone lines, and records-request routes when timing matters.
The legacy search form is available at the Fresno Sheriff Inmate Info Center. The screenshot below shows the booking-number path, the last-name and first-name fields, and the wildcard tip that allows partial spelling searches.
That form matters because Fresno's older public search is specific: search by booking number, or search by name with Last Name required and First Name optional.
How to Use the Fresno County Inmate Roster
Start with the sheriff's legacy search when you have a booking number or a likely last name. The current A-Z custody application, the booking blotter, and the release list are also official sheriff channels, but the legacy form shows the most transparent field labels. The result table tells users to click the linked Booking Number to open the profile.
- Open the sheriff's Inmate Info Center or the current in-custody A-Z application.
- If the booking number is known, enter it in the Booking No. field and search.
- If the booking number is not known, enter the Last Name. Add First Name only when needed to narrow matches.
- Use an asterisk after a partial last name when the spelling is uncertain, such as
smi*. - Review the results table for Person ID, Booking Number, Booking Name, sex, race, birthdate, and age.
- Click the Booking Number link to open the detail page for housing, charges, bail, case numbers, and VINE notification access.
Fresno County Roster Search Fields
The inspected legacy form has no dropdown filters, facility selector, or date-of-birth search field. Birthdate appears in search results, but the form itself accepts either a booking number or name fields. The Last Name requirement applies to a name search, not to a booking-number search.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booking No. | Text | No, if using name | Alternative to name search; the inspected field allowed up to 11 characters. |
| Last Name | Text | Yes, for name search | Partial spelling can be followed by an asterisk, such as smi*. |
| First Name | Text | No | Optional field used to narrow a last-name search. |
| Facility | Not shown | No | The legacy form did not expose a facility dropdown; housing location appears on the profile. |
What a Fresno County Inmate Profile Shows
The inspected Fresno detail page published a broad custody profile. It showed identity fields, physical descriptors, arrest and book dates and times, arresting agency, housing location, agency case number, a VINE link, charges, bail, authority, case number, level, bailout flag, sentence and release fields, and a holds section. No booking photo was visible in the inspected legacy detail HTML.

|---|---|
| Person ID / JID | The sheriff's jail identification or person identifier, separate from one booking event. |
| Booking Number | The booking-event number used to open the inmate detail page. |
| Name and DOB | Name in last, first, middle format with date of birth or age identifiers. |

| VINE Link | A profile-level link for custody-status notifications through VINELink. |
Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates
Use the custody system that matches the person's status. Fresno County jail records cover people in sheriff custody. CDCR CIRIS covers sentenced California state-prison custody, including Pleasant Valley State Prison. The BOP locator covers federal custody, including FCI Mendota. ICE ODLS is for immigration detention and is not a Fresno County jail roster or mugshot source.
| Custody | Where to Look |
|---|---|
| Pretrial or county jail sentence | Fresno Sheriff in-custody A-Z app or legacy Inmate Info Center. |
| Recent booking | Fresno Sheriff booking blotter. |
| Recent release | Fresno Sheriff release list. |
| Sentenced state prisoner | CDCR CIRIS; CDCR ID Unit fallback is (916) 445-6713. |
| Federal custody | BOP Inmate Locator. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator System. |
| Custody notifications | VINELink or 1-877-411-5588. |
Fresno County Jail Facilities
The sheriff's jail system is a downtown Fresno campus rather than one building. The public record may show a housing location code instead of a full street address, so phone confirmation is useful before visiting, posting money, or interpreting a movement between buildings.

Booking Process in Fresno County
After arrest, the jail record can show both arrest time and booking time. The sample profile tied the custody event to an arresting agency and agency case number, then showed housing and charges after booking. The sheriff's booking information says most incarcerated people are eligible for bail and have access to telephones to arrange bail through friends, family, or bail agents. If a person is not released on citation and does not make bail, classification staff determine housing criteria.
Classification uses objective risk factors, including violence, criminal history, escape history, and institutional behavior concerns. Medical and disability screening can affect housing, bunks, mobility aids, prosthetic devices, and accommodations. Fresno Superior Court states that in-custody defendants have a right to arraignment within 48 hours of arrest, where rights and charges are explained and bail may be raised or lowered. Jail charges and court charges can change as the case moves from booking to prosecution.
Visitation Hours and Rules
The sheriff's visiting schedule page should be checked before travel because hours vary by Main Jail, North Annex, and West Annex. The current schedule noted in the research was effective January 27, 2026, and the page was updated February 18, 2026. Social visits are 30 minutes, first come first served, with two visitors maximum and only one minor visitor allowed. Visitors need approved picture identification, pass through metal-detector screening, and keep banned personal items out of the visiting area.
The sheriff posts the current Fresno jail visiting schedule by facility, including Main Jail, North Annex, and West Annex.
Use the schedule with the roster housing information, then call Inmate Info when custody status or housing changed recently.
| Rule Area | Fresno Jail Requirement |
|---|---|
| Visit length | 30 minutes; visitor rotation is not allowed. |
| Visitor count | Two visitors maximum; one may be a minor within allowed immediate-family categories. |
| Identification | Valid picture ID such as state ID, military ID, passport, consulate ID, or DOJ/USCIS picture ID. |
| Security | Metal detector screening and possible closer inspection of shoes, jackets, belts, jewelry, or accessories. |
| Personal items | Purses, phones, cameras, food, beverages, cigarettes, weapons, strollers, and carriers are banned from visiting areas. |
Records Requests and Phone Fallbacks
When the web roster does not answer a records question, the sheriff's Records Unit is the local custodian for many sheriff reports and related law-enforcement services. The Records counter is at 2200 Fresno Street, Fresno, CA 93721, open 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, and the public phone is (559) 600-8400. The unit processes more than 23,000 reports, over 42,000 warrants, and 6,400 restraining orders each year, so requesters should be precise about the booking number, agency case number, name, date, and requested record type.
The sheriff's Records Unit page explains counter services, report access, warrant information, clearance letters, and accepted payment types.
For online public-records requests, use the sheriff's NextRequest portal. Accepted Records payment types listed in the research include cash, money order, business checks, and cashier's checks, with exact amounts controlled by the master fee schedule.
Commissary and Inmate Funds
Fresno County jail money and commissary are separate from the inmate lookup itself, but they require accurate custody and booking information. Deposits use TouchPay kiosks in jail lobbies, TouchPay online, or TouchPay by phone at (866) 232-1899. The facility number is 293721, and the incarcerated person's booking number is required for online and phone deposits. MyCarePack is available for gift packages, and the sheriff lists a $175 weekly combined commissary and internet purchase cap unless disciplinary restrictions apply. Indigent packages are available weekly on request for people without funds.
Note: Confirm current custody, booking number, and housing with the jail before sending money, scheduling a visit, or relying on a projected release date.
